Smaller Incisions using the Keller Funnel™
As an aesthetic patient, you are always looking for the best surgical results you can find. Sometimes there are many ways a doctor can approach a specific procedure, so finding one with the best fit for you can be a challenge. When it comes to Breast Augmentations, achieving an aesthetically attractive and pleasing result is the ultimate goal. The perfect size, shape, and overall look is only attained when the surgeon pays close attention to detail, utilizing the most effective method to carry out your surgery.
THE INCISION
One of the most important aspects of a surgical procedure is the incision, or the cut the surgeon makes in your skin. This is the part that, if done poorly, can leave evidence of your surgery for years afterward. Especially in the case of Breast Augmentations, you want to look and feel flawless when your surgery is finished. The smaller the cut made by the surgeon, the less your body needs to heal post-operatively. Dr. Schantz’ years of expertise in Breast Augmentation have allowed him to perfect his technique, using small incisions and exclusive technology to improve your surgical experience.
There are several places where Dr. Schantz can create an incision to insert breast implants during surgery. The two most common are the inframmary crease and the areola.
Inframmary Crease = the crease on the underside of the breast, where an incision may be concealed.
Areola = the colored ring around the nipple, where an incision may be camouflaged.
Saline breast implants, the least expensive type, are fairly easy to insert. The plastic shell is rolled up and inserted into the breast, then inflated with saline before closing the incision. Silicone implants, on the other hand, are manufactured with the silicone already inside. The entire implant has to fit through the incision area. Therefore, the size of the incision depends on the size of the implant. Luckily, there is a solution to this physics problem.
THE KELLER FUNNEL™
In 2009 an innovative new device emerged called the Keller Funnel™. This invention allows doctors to insert Silicone Implants into the breast through a much smaller incision, as well as eliminating the need for the doctor to touch the implant before it is inserted. This allows for a smaller opening, less stress on the area of incision, and less chance of bacteria coming in contact with the implant. It can also decrease the operation time (and the time you’re under anesthesia) by up to 10 minutes. Translate all this into faster surgery, faster healing time, less visible scars, and a better overall result!
“Since utilizing the Keller Funnel™, my patients have been thrilled with how they have healed post-operatively,” says Dr. Schantz. “Their scars are minimal, which they truly appreciate.”
Dr. Schantz is constantly searching for new, innovative ways to provide patients with the most attractive and pleasing results possible, by combining attention to detail and years of experience with scientific innovation in the field.
